Ian Abbotts and Liam Doyle founded the Global Food Safety Company in 2014. With over 50 years’ combined experience in the food industry, they joined forces to share their unrivalled expertise and knowledge – and deliver the highest standards of food industry training, auditing and consultancy. Over the years, the GFSC has developed longstanding and on-going working relationships with some of the UK’s largest food manufacturing groups, major high street retailers and food import companies.

Ian Abbotts, co-founder

Ian spent a number of years working in food manufacturing before joining Marks & Spencer – where he spent 25 years as Senior Hygiene Technologist. He was responsible for developing food safety and hygiene policy, codes of practice and training of food technologists – as well as auditing and approval of new food suppliers around the world. Ian is widely known throughout the UK food industry, where he has worked with many leading food manufacturers and retailers on improving their food safety and hygiene policies and standards. He is also a Chartered Member of the Institute of Environmental Health.

Liam Doyle, co-founder

Liam has 25 years' experience working with global food manufacturers and retailers. His expertise lies in hands-on, practical food safety assessment and management – one of his key skills is Listeria incident management and resolution. He has previously worked for Marks & Spencer, Boots plc and Uniq in both food safety and technology – gaining vast experience in a wide range of high-care and high-risk food production environments around the world. He is also a Chartered Member of the Institute of Environmental Health.
